For those of us who don’t have corporate jobs anymore, and can afford to wear tee shirts and jeans in the middle of the week…

Complete outfit to go almost anywhere

Friday, April 25th, 2008

I was feeling a little photoshop-happy, so here’s what I came up with…Full outfit with belt, jeans and a white jacket

1. Eyelet Blazer from Gap

2. White Women’s Long Rib-Knit Tank top from Old Navy

3. Antik Denim Belt from Zappos

4. Lightweight flared jeans from Gap

5. Ruffle-toe ballet flats from Gap

6. Seed Bead Hoop Earrings from Urban Outfitters

In any case, what I like about this outfit is that each and every part of it is extremely versatile. I will build a series of outfits during the week, re-using some garments. I dress like this all the time, so I hope you like it…

8 Golden Rules for buying Jeans:

Friday, April 11th, 2008

1. No pleats or skinny jeans (tapered legs). These will make your body look disproportionate and weird. Not worth taking the risk to check if you are among the small percentage of the population that looks good in these.
2. Darker jeans are dressier and make you look thinner
3. Back pockets should be positioned so that they make your butt look cute
4. The fabric should have some Lycra in it so it can adapt to your body (stretch fabric)
5. Even if you have a heavy figure, you should not wear loose jeans
6. High-waist Jeans are a big no-no. Go for the ones at waist or below the waist, but make sure they cover your butt and are not too tight on the sides, making the love handles pop out
7. The fabric should not be stained or with uneven color, this is a trend and it’s not always flattering or pretty.
8. Just generally make sure the jeans fit and that they cover your ankles completely when you sit. That means they are a little longer when you stand and they will look nice with your shoes on.
